Hi friends! We all want to look our best on a Valentine’s Day (yes, whether it is for that “special someone”, or… just for YOURSELF! Because… what about self-love?)! 🙂
And since the V-Day is tomorrow (!) I decided to gather up some of my best tips on how to look your best on this special day!
6 Simple Ways To Look Your Best for Valentine’s Day:
1. Put on some makeup, but don’t overdo it!
Because remember: you want to impress with your LOOKS, not with your beauty products arsenal! I think that going for the red lips, while leaving the rest of the makeup very simple is always the best bet for the V-Day look!
2. Pamper your skin!
To keep the rest of your makeup “simple” you need to have a good foundation for it. That foundation is your skin. While it’s always great to keep it in good shape by staying healthy and taking good care of it on the daily basis, it’s never as important to give your skin some TLC before a special outing! With that said, if you’re experiencing an issue with your skin (like excessive dryness or it’s breaking up), address it tonight by either applying a hydrating mask to combat the dryness, gently exfoliating it to restore its glow or by simply making sure to keep it well hydrated! (Following this trick has been really helpful in terms of keeping my skin hydrated all the time!)
3. Pick your outfit.
But not just any pretty outfit! What’s even more important than a “beautiful dress” is that YOU’RE feeling beautiful in it! If it’s uncomfortable, or if it makes you feel odd (my personal pitfall are the extra-tight dresses: I feel like I’m all squeezed in there!), – you will never FEEL beautiful! I love this shift dress (currently on sale for under $20!): it’s pretty, yet so comfy!
4. Get enough rest!
This one is my “Secret Weapon”! 🙂 I remember how my mom always got compliments for looking great at the parties! She told me about her “secret”: before a party she always made sure that she was well-rested! And if she didn’t get to catch the full night sleep, she’d take a little nap before getting ready to go out! After that she always looked refreshed without having to conceal those under-eye dark circles (that aren’t that easy to conceal, by the way!)
5. Surround Yourself with Beautiful Scents!
And I’m not only talking about your favorite perfume! (Although it’s always a great idea to “wear” your favorite scent to instantly make you feel confident, pretty and desired!) Before going out – take a bath with some aromatic oils. Smear your favorite body lotion all over your body, including your feet. Finally, light up a scented candle as you’re getting ready to head out the door! My favorite scent is vanilla – it’s so sweet and so soothing!
6. Bust the Stress!
Not only stress is bad for your health (we already know that!). It’s bad for your looks, too! You don’t want to show up with a twitching eye to that date, do you? 🙂 Well, I know, I know! Here LA traffic alone can turn a Tibetan monk into a stressed out mess! While avoiding the stress completely is impossible, you can reduce it by doing the things that help you relax! Those things are different for every person. For me cooking (a dessert!), reading a book and playing with my cat are the great ways to destress. Meditation doesn’t help me much (I can’t JUST relax, I have to be distracted!). Find what works for you!
