I like to keep my skincare routine nice and simple (it’s basically making sure to keep my skin moisturized, protected and clean). Yet, time is moving forward and I acknowledge the fact that a little bit of prevention may go a long way when it comes to dealing with signs of dreaded aging!
With that said I’ve come to realize that there are a few other products that I may want to add to my skincare routine in order to address this issue. Here’s what they are:
A Serum:
A serum is basically a concentrate of all these things that help you treat a certain skincare issue. They make serums for different types of concerns: be it sun-spots, acne, acne-scars or… yes – aging. Some serums are hard-core strong. I believe that just like with an aspirin you should always begin with a lower dose!
Also choosing a serum might be a bit of a process because it’s very important to find the one that not only delivers all this magic to your skin. You must find the one that your skin “likes”!
For instance my very sensitive skin didn’t like many highly rated serums: no matter what those serums delivered to it, it refused to “take it in” and broke out every time I tried them! Finally I’ve found the serum that my skin “accepted” and it had become my go-to serum ever since! 🙂 It’s this Double Serum by Clarins!
What made me decide to give this serum a try was that it was recommended by one of my friends with very beautiful, youthful-looking skin. Finally I’ve been also sampling this serum whenever I passed the Clarins counter at the mall. And… I really loved what it did to my skin! Oily, yet light, this serum hasn’t caused any irritation on my skin. Instead it’s been helping my skin stay nice and shiny, hydrated and moisturized!
I usually use this serum right on my rinsed skin before applying my daily moisturizer.
A Balm:
A bit thicker than a cream and not as liquid and messy as an oil, a balm is what I use to smooth and treat the driest areas on my skin!
And here’s why I really love using a balm as a part of my skincare routine:
Its texture. This is what works in this balm instead of all the latest-science novel ingredients! Its texture is silky and buttery. And although it may not affect your skin’s deeper layers, it will certainly keep the surface of your skin nice and smooth which will prevent it from developing the issues that will have to be treated on the dealer level such as wrinkles and lines by keeping your skin smooth and elastic.
My latest favorite balm is this Beauty Chef Balm: it’s very inexpensive (just $30), but I believed that it was really worth giving it a try! It’s smells amazing, it’s “clean”: it doesn’t have any chemicals. And it does’t irritate my skin at all!
My favorite way of using it a balm is to apply little amounts of it on the driest spots on the surface of my skin (around my lips and on my forehead) to prevent the frown lines and the horizontal forehead lines from appearing! 🙂
I so hope that you all are doing well and feeling good! And I also hope that I’ve inspired you to think that it is possible to look pretty for as long as we can if we find the “right helpers” that make sense to our skincare concerns! 🙂
And as always… I’d love to hear all your ideas, thoughts and suggestions in the comments below!
You’re so smart to be moisturizer & protecting your skin – especially when you”re young! That is an investment that will pay off down the road!
