What makes us “unattractive”? A “wrong” body-shape? Wrinkles? A “wrong” color of our hair? Or is it rather our own BELIEF that we aren’t pretty, or worthy, or that we are… well, unattractive?
I don’t know about you, but I believe that it’s the latter one! But what makes us think that way? What makes YOU think that you’re unattractive?
…Once upon a time I was badly depressed: I did everything I was supposed to do every day: took care of my boys and our home, I cooked, I cleaned, I shopped, and I rushed around town. Dressing up or taking a coffee break seemed like a privilege of single young women, – college girls – those who had reasons to get dressed and excuses to go out for coffee! …Yet, feeling joyless and as a result, looking gloomy had never served any favors to my looks or my attitude!
And here’s the ultimate lesson that I’ve learned:
A few simple self-care routines can go SUCH A LONG WAY as far as our appearance and attitude goes! These routines don’t have to be pricey, time-consuming or complicated. All you need is to just see the importance in incorporating them into your life!
4 Simple Self-Care Routines With Huge Beauty Benefits!
1. No matter how short – create and schedule SOME sort of a beauty routine each and every day!
And no, it doesn’t have to be a 10-step Korean skincare or a two-hour $100+ facial! Actually… I believe that it’s not even what you do that matters as much as the fact that you actually DO stuff for your looks! It’s the thought, it’s you finding the time to beautify yourself, even if it’s something as simple as combing your hair in a special, more intricate than just a pony-tail way or planning your outfit that counts!
2. Find a few minutes each day to do whatever the heck you want!
Yes, exactly – whatever YOU WANT! I know it sounds obvious, but it took me SO long to realize that in my time-pressured life a big chunk of pressure actually comes from ME! With all the things that I NEED to do each day when the “free time” came I used to stress out again about using that time wisely (i.e. doing MORE things that benefit either my career, or my well-being).
But… stress destroys your beauty! So… do yourself a favor and sometimes just let yourself be! Even if it’s for a few minutes each day!
3. Schedule the time to indulge a little!
What gives you joy? A cup of coffee? A piece of pie or a little ice-cream? Let yourself have it on a regular basis! You can take yourself out (yes, because you’re worth it!), or coincide having a treat with doing the work that doesn’t require you running around.
I used to feel guilty about treating myself (because hey, I’m a grown up, right?) But when I’ve realized how NOT treating myself could turn me into a gloomy someone who you DON’T want to be with, I knew that a daily treat must always take place! And yes, a smile can go such a long way (perhaps LONGER than a perfect face/body/skin, etc.)!
4. Find a small room in your budget to give yourself gifts!
And once again, this doesn’t mean that you have to spend half of your paycheck a pair of overpriced shoes! But what about inexpensive but super-cute necklace or, heck, just a nice-smelling body-butter or a bottle of perfume? The feelings of worthiness that those little gifts give are so much more important than what they even are!As you can see, my self-care routines don’t involve spending a ton of time or money! But they do go a long way in terms of making me happier, prettier and content! 🙂
