Hi, Friend,
…In my last Healthy Impossible Sweet Potato Cupcake with Marshmallow Frosting recipe post I was telling you all about my Pumpkin vs. Sweet Potato Dessert dilemma for the upcoming Thanksgiving… 🙂 And how I then finally decided to go with the sweet potatoes…
But… you know what? With my big love for my Pumpkins I thought that I just couldn’t NOT make a traditional pumpkin dessert as well! And what could be more traditional than a PIE! Because a PIE is what comes to mind when we think “Thanksgiving Desserts”, right?
But once again, there are SO MANY Pumpkin Pie recipes out there! And so, even though I REALLY wanted to make something truly traditional, I just couldn’t resist giving it a little personal “twist”. Just to spice things up a bit… 🙂 Literally and figuratively speaking… 🙂
And… what’s the better way to spice things up AND make them even more indulgent at the same time than making them Chocolate? 🙂 This is how the idea for this (Somewhat Untraditional) Chocolate Pumpkin Pie recipe came to me!
Also… well, there is another little “untraditional” twist that I gave to the “traditional” Pumpkin Pie recipe…
This Healthy Chocolate Pumpkin Pie is also… Crustless!
Uh… But… it’s still a PUMPKIN PIE, right? 🙂 And so it can rightfully be called a True Thanksgiving Dessert! 🙂Â
But (just because I always have this urge to justify my choices 🙂 )… think about all the great things that comes with my Un-Traditional Crustless Chocolate Pumpkin Pie:
- It’s Super-Fast to make! (And that could be a REAL life-saver when you’re in the pre-Holiday-pinch! Skipping the crust-making&baking step is a big thing when you have very little time (and energy) to have EVERYTHING done!) No, really: you don’t even have to mess too much with the filling! Just throw all the ingredients in the blender, give them a few spins until they’re incorporated, pour it all in your pie dish, bake, and… viola! Your yummy beautiful pie is all ready to go!
- It’s Low-Calorie! Because what makes a pie high-calorie? The buttery crust, right? Going “bare” cuts a ton of calories down! (And that may come very handy when you don’t want to JUST have (one small) piece a pie at your Big Dinner!)
- Finally it is Super-Healthy! Because aside from the super-healthy pumpkin, this pie also features the super-healthy cocoa powder! Not only the cocoa makes this pie extra-decadent! It adds so much flavor and substance to it that you don’t need to use any fat and very little sugar to make this pie taste great!

Healthy Crustless Chocolate Pumpkin Pie
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups pure pumpkin puree
- 3/4 cup fat-free condensed milk
- 2 eggs
- 2/3 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup flour
- 1 tsp oil
- 2 oz chocolate cereal*
- 1 tsp pumpkin pie spice
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350F.
- If you are in a real pinch or if you don't have the chocolate cereal handy just grease your pie dish with the oil and dust it with some flour. I dusted my my pie dish with the ground chocolate cereal: I used the cereal to make serving the pie super-easy (the slices just slide off the pie dish) and I chose the chocolate cereal to make the bottom of the pie look just as chocolaty as the pie itself. And so I put the cereal in the blender and blend until the it resembled fine crumbs. I then pressed the crumbs into the pie dish.
- If you like you can also stick the dusted pie dish in the oven for 3-5 minutes (making sure that the thin layer of flour/crumbs don't burn! This step just gives the roasted crumbs a nice flavor.
- Put the pumpkin, eggs, condensed milk, sugar, cocoa powder, flour, vanilla extract, salt, baking powder, pumpkin spice and cinnamon in the blender and blend until everything is incorporated.
- Pour the pie filling into the pie pan.
- Bake for about 1 hour or until the toothpick inserted in the middle of pie comes out clean.
- Let the pie cool a bit before slicing it, and... enjoy!
Recipe Notes
*For this recipe I used the chocolate low-sugar cheerios. But if you don't have the chocolate cereal you can use use just about any other cereal; to make your cereal crumbs "chocolate" just add a tbsp of cocoa powder to the blender together with the cereal and... viola!
Happy Upcoming Thanksgiving, Friends!
This looks amazing – so dense and rich! I had to look at the calorie counter twice, can’t believe it’s only 175 calories – wow! Beautiful picture too, just lovely!
Thanks, Debra!!!!!! It’s so sweet of you to say all these nice things! And yes, it came out dense because I added some flour to the batter (otherwise it’d be too sticky for a crustless pie). But I love it when my desserts are dense like this… It’s almost like eating fudge… 🙂
